September 13

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and they sat down (about five thousand men were there). Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted (John 6: 5-12).

Today  I was reminded of the Word, and how He fed all these people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. After homework time with one of the students, a precious little jewel, Francisca, who is special need, as I am, five children were picked to help me in the kitchen. We had 2lbs. of ground turkey, and two packages of spaghetti noodles to feed the first group of 18 children. I wondered if this would be enough, but in my heart, somehow, I figured we can make it stretch.

After praying and thanking the Lord for His provisions, the five children served gracefully. I can’t help but add how much I am falling in love with these kids!  They don’t have tablets, ipads, and phones, in fact, they don’t have much at all.   What they do have is a lot of love, and believe me, they pour it out, without grumbling! When I told them that they were going to serve the other’s first, they were excited to do so, and after all was fed, we still a lot left over.  The second group came in from school hungry, and we were able to feed another 13 junior high, and high school children.

Praise:  Today Lord, again You amaze me. With two pounds of ground turkey, and packages of spaghetti noodles, I was table feed 31 children!
