Choose Life

I knew of a dog who had a wound between his toes. His owner cleaned the wound and placed a bandage on it. The wound really wasn’t that deep; nor did it really need a bandage; but the dog owner wanted to make sure his pet would not pick at it with his teeth; causing it to bleed or become infected, so he put ointment on and wrapped the wound very tightly. Now the owner thought by covering the wound he was doing what was right for his dog. He loved his dog very deeply and he never wanted any harm to come to his dearly loved pet; but what he didn’t know is that he was killing his beloved dog.

As time went on the owner noticed a rotten stench smell in the house. He wasn’t sure where this order was coming from but this smell was a horrible deathly smell of flesh! It was so bad the owner took his dog and left the house for the night until he can figure out where this smell was coming from. So off to the hotel the owner and dog went. They settled down for the night and as the owner lay his head he took a deep breath and that smell, Oh, it was so horrible the owner actually began coughing and choking. As he was bent he noticed the smell was coming from his beloved pet.

He quickly began unwrapping the bandage and flesh from his pet was coming off with it. The wound became so infected, and gangrene the dog was dead within a few hours.

Proverbs 10:18

He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool.

We all have been wounded at one time or many times. Some wounds we allow the healing process to take place naturally and some we bandage up very tightly and nurse them so much the healing never comes.

How do you know this is the wound? When the pressure is added,  your actions will reveal who’s nature is in you, the lust of self vindication, and you begin justifying yourself by pointing your figure at someone else, or you blame on the wounds of your youth.  (“Lord deliver me from the lust of self-vindication). Or you will be still and know He is Lord, (Psalm 46) (I trust You Jesus’)

“This is where it hurts, say’s the Lord, This is where I need to bring healing; admit My judgment, don’t conceal the hatred in your heart; and don’t speak evil against those who may have caused you pain, you don’t know what they may have been through or what they are going through. Stand is awe of My Name and I will give you life and peace; for this is my covenant for those who revere Me. True instruction will be in your mouth and nothing false will be found on your lips. You will walk with Me in peace and uprightness, and turn many from sin. Malachi 2:5-16. Do not break faith with the wife of your youth. “I hate divorce” says the Lord.

If you don’t and you just give up, you will die a spiritual death, the stench of resentment will rise in you; a bitter root will begin to grow; and it won’t stop there, it will also grow in your loved ones’. For we know only to well that a bitter root grows like wild flowers. If you walk through trusting that God knows what He is doing with a thankful heart your healing will come in His time; or you can walk begrudging and soothing your wounds by slandering others then it’s no ones fault but yours; and eventually the hatred will consume you like gangrene and you will surely die.

The Promise:  Malachi 3

“See, I will send My messenger, who will prepare the way before Me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to His temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty.

2But who can endure the day of His coming: Who can stand when He appears? For He will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. 3He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness, 4 and the the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will be acceptable to the Lord, as in days gone by, as in former years.

5”So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear Me,” says the Lord Almighty.
