Rough Terrians

And rough terrains

Everybody needs a little encouragement. Everybody needs a little encouragement. Every body needs a little encouragement.
Do you get the point! We all need a little encouragement and hope in order to perservere and press on as we travel in the Day’s Journey.

When Jess and I plan to take a weekend trip i know that I need to start packing the night before. He likes his clothes pressed, so I iron everything and place them on hangers; pack up extra clothes, make sure we have plenty of water and nutricious snacks such as: Hostess Cupcakes, pop, potatoe chips, and maybe some nutragrain bars. He always says we will leave at 3:00am, which means we will not actually leave the house until 9:00am.
By the time I get us ready for our trip; I would be so exhausted and frustrated that I would be so discouraged I actually began to dread the trip, and all the excitement would  fade behind all the obstacles I predestined in my mind.

These little rocks, stole blessings from me and the people whom God placed on my path. The constant complaining in my mind turn my heart bitter until i was so consumed I would blow like a volcano! Then came the guilt, the guilt of condemnation would drain the life right out of me; because I failed the one thing God asked me to do. Love!

After many attempts walking this path of love and feeling the sting of failure. It can be like walking barefoot on rough terrians and the tiny rocks poking your feet.  Thats how I feel when I try to love with my own conditional, emotional, self-efforts and fall flat on my face kind of love.
I finally realized that this was an impossible task and I just did not have this seed in my heart. But God is love and if God is love and we don’t have God in us, or we in Him, then the truth is we cannot produce this fruit if the seed is not in us, right? But there is hope! And this my friend is the hope we hope for:

2Thess.2:13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. 16May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father , who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

2Thess. 3:Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men, for not everyone has faith. 3But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 4We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. 5May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s Love and Christ’s Perserverance.

Well, this is the Good News and our hope: Our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ encourages us, by His Word, His Presence, His Spirit, and most of all His unfailing Love that He has placed in our hearts; not something we can attain on our own efforts. George MacDonald said: Lord take away the efforts of duty and give to me the Gift of your Perfect Love.
